Boat Club

If you’re looking for a fun, social and sporty university experience, look no further! RVCBC is a welcoming mixed society at the RVC. Whether you used to row at school or have never held an oar, we’d love to have you join!

We are based out of the University of London Boathouse in Chiswick, and row every Wednesday and Saturday. We have two levels of rowing: Novice and Senior. Those who are new to rowing will join our Novice crews, led by our wonderful novice captains, Brogan and Joe. They will provide you coaching and support from day one as you learn the ropes to the boathouse. We are also always welcoming new coxswains to guide our boats down the river, so please reach out to Samara Ali if you’re interested in giving that a go!

An average week in Boat Club consists of circuit training, group runs, personal training and outings on the water. All of this will work towards getting you ready to compete in races on the Thames against London medical schools, i.e. the United Hospitals. Commitment levels can vary and we always understand that studies come first. Your rowing experience can be whatever you make it!

If you're not interested in rowing but want some amazing new friends, come join as a social member! We have socials every Wednesday, including our iconic Halloween social and chaotic curry nights. Our infamous annual tour will be held in early 2024 and is a highlight of our club calendar. Some recent destinations include Athens, Nice and Lisbon. Our social memberships also include socials with other universities within the United Hospitals, including the start-of-season pub crawl, Valentine’s Day crew-dates and an annual black-tie dinner. This membership includes land training for those who would like to improve their fitness but aren’t quite looking to sell their soul to the Thames ;)

Those who have experience rowing or coxing will join our senior crews, coached by Will, Emily and Alice. We are always welcoming new members and can’t wait to work our way towards some medals this year!

If rowing sounds like the place for you, please get in touch with one of us (see below) and follow our social media to find out more!

We hope to see you soon!
