Postgraduate Talk

Postgraduate Talk

Thu 28 January 2021 13:00-14:00

We’re excited to announce we are kicking off a new series of talks aimed at postgraduates, covering a range of relevant and hopefully useful and interesting content for you all.

As it’s that time of year, we are starting with a talk and open discussion session titled “What is a PhD?”, to be held on Thursday 28th January at 1pm via Zoom. This is aimed at anyone who wants to know more about what is involved, whether on PGT, clinical or MRes courses, and will feature talks from Kristien Verheyen (head of the graduate school), Joana Aguiar and Lucie Bourne as well as open Q&A. Joana is a final year PhD student studying the pathogenesis of feline hyperthyroidism, and Lucie is a newly minted PhD, who studied calcification processes mediated by osteoblasts and vascular smooth muscle cells.

We also have some future talks in the works such as:

·      What is a postdoc?

·      What is a clinical residency?

·      How can I balance research and the clinic?

·      What is translational research and why should I care?

·      Where does the money come from?

If you have any other topics you’d like us to cover in the future, across PGT, PGR and clinical relevance, please just let us know!
