The Student Union leases two minibuses which can be hired for use by clubs and societies. Both minibuses seat 11 passengers, plus the driver.

They are named, thanks to student voting, after past and present lecturers, respectively: Allun Stedman and Stephen Frean. 

WHO CAN DRIVE THE MINIBUSES?

To hire the buses you need to find someone who is willing to drive and is eligible to be insured, drivers need to be:

21 years old or over

have held a full UK licence for three years or more

have had no accidents, claims or convictions in the past three years

a current RVC student

Insurance is only provided for the specific date requested each time, so even if someone has driven the minibuses in the past you need to request insurance for every date, otherwise you will be driving uninsured.

ARRANGING TO HIRE THE MINIBUSES: MUST BE COMPLETED 7 DAYS PRIOR TO BOOKING

Check that they are available on the date you require using the minibus Google calendar below.

Email suminibus@rvc.ac.uk to request to book the bus/buses for those dates.

The person/people to be insured need to click here to complete the Minibus Insurance Form and send it with a copy of their driving licence photocard to suminibus@rvc.ac.uk.

Ensure this is done in sufficient time for insurance to be arranged – an absolute minimum is for the insurance forms to be received one week before the booking.

You will then have it processed and confirmed that the drivers are insured for the requested dates.

USING THE MINIBUSES:

The minibuses keys are at the security hut on campus and the keys need to be signed out by the driver. The minibuses are parked in the student car park behind halls.

Record the start mileage in the record book before you use the minibus and record the end mileage when you return it.

Fill the minibus up with fuel when you return it.

Ensure the bus is clean, doors and windows are all shut/locked and there is no damage to the buses. Failure to do so will result in the relevant fine being incured, please see Minibus Fines and Charges for amounts.
