Name: Abril Fimbres

Known As: Abril

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I’m most looking forward to experiencing new things, meeting people from different backgrounds, and making memories with friends. I’m hoping to visit a new city in the UK each term so I can explore more of the country and make the most of my time here. In my role, I’m also excited to represent the international student community, listen to their experiences, and help make sure everyone feels welcomed, supported, and included throughout the year.

What is your top recommendation for students to get involved during their time at university?

My top recommendation would be to get involved in as many opportunities as you can, even if they are outside your comfort zone, whether that’s joining a club or society, attending events, or trying out different activities. It’s a great way to meet new people and make the most of your university experience. You might try something and realise it’s not for you, which is completely okay, but you’ll never know unless you give it a go. If there’s something you’re passionate about that doesn’t have a club, start one! If you have an activity or event in mind that you would like to see, never be afraid to email us and we can try to make it happen.

Favourite Animal:

My favorite land animal is a cheetah but marine is a cownose ray; obviously I can't have just one.

Hobbies/Interests:

I love travelling and immersing myself in different cultures and experiences. I also really enjoy photography, especially taking photos while travelling and capturing the places and memories along the way.

Fun Fact:

I work at a butcher shop to further develop my understanding of anatomy while improving my hands-on and practical skills.
