Candidate for the position of IVSA Junior Representative

LAURA SCOWEN

IVSA is an amazing organisation which you are all automatically members of, offering some fantastic opportunities to link your vet degree with travelling. I think it’s so important that these don’t go unnoticed and that as many of you as possible can get involved, which is why I’d love the chance to be your IVSA rep! Having been part of the organising committee for our global exchanges for the past 2 years I feel experienced enough to carry on and be able to expand on the hard work of our previous reps. My goal is to be able to offer even more exchanges with international vet schools that suit the different years and time commitments of everyone. Taking part in these exchanges, other IVSA conferences as well as attending the annual IVSA Congress has had such a huge impact on my life at RVC. They provide you with the platform to create links with other vet students around the globe, show the endless career possibilities available and allow you to experience diverse cultures with like-minded people. Funding travelling can always be an issue but in IVSA we work hard to gain sponsors to make the fee as low as possible. As well as aiming to continue this work there are also a huge number of IVSA grants and scholarships available that I would ensure everyone is aware of. I hope that IVSA continues to grow in success at RVC and I would love to be given the opportunity to be a part of it :)

Thank you!
