"What Matters To You, Matters To Me" Part 2
I am putting myself forward to run for VP Reps Comms for the next academic year – I have wholeheartedly enjoyed the role this year and would like to strive continuing to make further improvements in how the SU directly communicates with the student body, as well as with the College.
The experience I have had this year has given me focused insight into the current methods of communication the SU utilises, and from this there are notable improvements I’d like to work towards:
- Work with the new SU Website Manager to create a more efficient access point for opportunities that can be regularly updated to avoid lots of mass emails
- Improve links with Student Engagement in the college, increasing awareness of work between the College and SU - especially in light of the campus development schemes
- Make further improvements to the Course Rep programme taking on-board current feedback, with more ways to track and communicate about issues/praise affecting all courses and year groups, besides working on making the programme more beneficial to the students that take part
It takes time to adjust to the role, and by the time you’ve got to grips with the infrastructure it can be hard to find the time to implement goals whilst balancing being a student.
I feel more confident that I can work towards the highlighted points as I have built good relationships with the staff of the SU and College, understand the workings of the election processes and regulations, and want to encourage more students to speak up and communicate to the SU about their time at the RVC.
