Candidate for the position of Vice President Welfare
Demi LeNette-Dawson
PLEASE VOTE DEMI FOR VP WELFARE!
Hello, I’m Demi, a first year Accelerated BVetmed student. I’d love to be voted as your new VP Welfare. As a course rep and Vetsoc treasurer for two years at Surrey, I helped organise their great student support network. I’m passionate that all RVC students should be able to enjoy and thrive, whilst feeling safe and happy here.
As your VP Welfare, I aim to:
-
Represent your voice as a student community and optimise the RVC student experience
-
Introduce an opt-in Buddy network across the courses and/or a Big-Vet-Little-Vet scheme, to allow for sharing of experiences from the clinical to the pre-clinical vet years - this I believe would help the transition to the clinical years and Hawkshead.
-
Offer more puppy days throughout the year to cuddle the stress away.
-
Develop a welfare peer mentor scheme, where student volunteers support their peers by providing someone to talk to, both in person and by a text service.
-
Increase awareness of the available support the RVC and the SU offers.
I'm always up for a chat, if you need to talk to someone.
My first term at the RVC has been challenging yet a great experience and I understand some of my peers will face similar challenges. I want to make our univerisity experience the best it can be, for all of us. As VP welfare I'll be there to support and promote equal opportunities for everyone.
I really care about the welfare of students here at the RVC and your thoughts really matter to me, so if you believe, as I do, that I’m the right person for the job: Please vote for me.
