James will be completing the MRes course after a three-year BSc programme and has great familiarity with the RVCSU after serving as course rep and SU Officer. He hopes to work alongside Lucie in building on the success of previous officers to integrate communication between taught and research-based courses and representing those opinions at committees. This can be done through creating a comment portal and surveying the PG population. Furthermore, he aims to cater to the needs of PG students in terms of events, support and research needs whilst the building work completes at Camden and begins at Hawkshead. It would be wonderful to arrange showcases and symposiums of the PG research conducted at RVC to raise its profile to other students and larger academic audiences.
Lucie is once again running for SU Postgraduate Officer alongside James. She is in the final year of her PhD and has taken on the role for the last two years. Although due to submit her thesis next year, Lucie hopes to help James in this new position and ease the transition of roles until her time at the RVC has come to end. Furthering the work she has done this year, Lucie hopes to aid integration of all PG level courses into the SU and build on the work she has done with the grad school and the SU to improve both the wellbeing of students and the quality of their courses.
Having both PhD and Masters level officers in this role is critical for understanding the needs of all PG students at the RVC. They both look forward to working together to support all postgraduates.
