I’m Stephanie-Rae and I’m a second year VetMed student. I love everything RVC and take pride in being a student here - in both study and social aspects. I am the RVCHC Ladies 3s captain and have been a keen hockey player for the past 3 years, enjoying playing in a team as well as being able to guide others and help them improve. As a student ambassador, it is fulfilling to reach out to prospective students and wider community, telling them how good our teaching and facilities are here, along with work of the SU.
Leadership and responsibility is important along with organisation - something that being a Course Rep has taught me and believe that I now have a better grasp of how the system works and what can be achieved through it. Being a Gateway student gave me an outlook on other courses as well as the VetMed programme, so I would feel I could understand people's respective viewpoints about where their courses work well and where improvements could be made. With this role, I would want to see even better communication between staff and students in more aspects than just course content; we are all here for a considerable amount of time and for it to be the best experience possible, it requires input, tolerance and compromise from everyone that studies and works here at the RVC – the Course Rep body being an acknowledgeable source of a lot of change at the university.
