''I(VSA) can show you the world'' VOTE CHANTELLE for IVSA Junior Rep

Hola me llama Chantelle and I’m an ex gateway student now in BVETMED 2 and I’d love to be your IVSA Junior representative. After my 3 years at the RVC I feel that I’m ready to step up and take on a new challenge within the SU. After being part of the IVSA organising committee this year, it has given me a thirst for adventure within the IVSA which is why I’d really appreciate your vote. I aim to ensure that every student has the opportunity to engage in IVSA.

   My experience:

  • This year I was part of the organising committee for the biggest IVSA exchange ever executed at RVC. My tasks involved organising food for 75 international and RVC students for several nights, spending the entire week hosting 50 international vet students working closely to ensure the smooth running of the exchange.
  • My role also included obtaining sponsors. From my experience finding sponsors proved difficult when emailing around, so this year at the London Vet Show I thought I’d get a head start so I networked and spoke to many potential sponsors and large companies about our future events. I discovered that speaking to them in person proved a lot more effective than just mass emailing, so I hope to use these sponsors if elected. I have been a student ambassador at RVC for 3 years, and have worked many events, with my favourites being the summer schools where I have been a house leader every year.
  • I am currently RVC’s Women’s football team fundraiser, having organised bake sales and future events in the pipeline.

  If elected I pledge to:

  • Ensure we have lots of sponsors to make it affordable for us vet students to gain the opportunity to experience the international application of veterinary skills, education and knowledge for yourselves. You deserve a global perspective of our profession to benefit your future career. I have demonstrated this by voicing our event to many potential sponsors at the London Vet Show.
  • Networking with students internationally to create links globally. I enjoy talking to people and integrating myself into opportunities that will aid our student experience by opening doors to visiting other international vet schools and broadening our horizons. I believe that making links with other veterinary professionals will be advantageous to us as students but also for the international students we engage with.
  • To join forces with Jordon Egan our lovely senior IVSA rep by organising more group exchanges, like our ones to Germany, Estonia and Greece this year.
  • Promote how awesome IVSA is and the events YOU can get involved with. Subsequently representing RVC at IVSA events such as congress and attend to IVSA AGM.
  • I want to make international EMS, projects, AHEMS and congresses more accessible to students through ensuring everyone has lots of information aboiut bursuraies and grants available to them. I would also like to try and get more funding available for people wanting to travel internationally for vet-based/research workMake international AHEMS and EMS placements more accessible to you by supplying all the vital information needed.
  • P.S if I haven't convinced you, please give a vote for my pet cow Ariel!
