Hi there! I am a current BVetMed2 student with a strong desire to become your 2018/19 entertainment officer. With a background of social organisational roles over a 5 year time period, as well as having a taster of being a small part of the RVC SU (as a Freshers Angel) this year, I am ready to spread my (hopefully sturdy) wings and take on a larger role! As university is the first time for many being away from home I intend to make Freshers a time for serious bonding (all-inclusive of sensible drinking and partying), and what can entice friendship more than a higher number of options; I think organising some more sober interactions, (e.g. pizza mingles during the day/early evening at each halls of residence) for those who haven’t yet been persuaded to join the RVC party bus, might enable more long-term (3+ hours, toilet in-exclusive ) friendships to be made ready for the new year of study.
Most importantly, as we all know Christmas Ball is the highlight of the social calendar, I would like to spread this highlight over Sports Ball, in addition the recently reintroduced Summer Ball and try to make these all valued as equals in EVERYONE’S social calendar!
Overall, my principal intention would be to involve the students more in my decisions as an Entertainment Officer; I am only one person and as much as I’d love to say I am a creative mastermind, vastly cultured party animal all in one, I am not. So the only way I can possibly improve events and make them something even more people want to atttend, is by listening to everyone from all different stages of the RVC journey.
