SAWS Rabbit Welfare Talk
Thu 15 May 2025 17:00-19:00
Conference Rooms 1+2
SAWS welcomes Maria Jackson to share her expertise regarding domestic rabbit welfare. Maria Jackson qualified as a registered veterinary nurse from the RVC in 2020 and stayed on to complete her BSc whilst working as a locum RVN at predominantly exotics practices. In 2022, she completed a Master of Research assessing the prevalence, risk factors, and veterinary clinical management of rabbit dental disease, winning the 2022 Burgess Excel Rabbit Student of the Year award for this work. Since then, she has worked as a research assistant in rabbit welfare at the RVC, working on studies assessing conformational risk factors (particularly brachycephalic head shape and lop ear type) and welfare implications of rabbit dental and ear diseases. Join Maria on May 15th for a talk about domestic rabbit welfare. The talk will cover key concerns for companion rabbit health and welfare, with some discussion of farmed and laboratory rabbit welfare too.
