Shark Science: What's the FISH-ue? - 11th Febuary @ 18:00 GMT
If you're looking to get green with envy at the dream job or want to learn more about shark research and marine conservation issues, then join RVC alumni Chessie Mason from the Bimini Shark Lab at the first of the RVCSU's interest talks!
Since graduating from the Bioveterinary Science course in 2015, Chessie has worked with a wide range of marine life from assessing local populations of short-finned whales and bottlenose dolphins at the Atlantic Whale and Dolphin Foundation in Tenerife, to monitoring snorkeler interactions with whale sharks in Utila, Honduras. She currently works in the Bahamas at the Bimini Shark Lab researching the different elasmobranch populations (sharks and rays) that utilise the shallow waters surrounding the island - the Shark Lab has been host to film crews from The Deadly 60, Blue Planet Live, Shark, Oceans and many other documentaries from the BBC, Nat Geo and Discovery. So join us on the 11th February at 6pm to get a glimpse at one of the one of the world's oldest predators and hear about the global research efforts going into their conservation.
