Hi everyone! My name is Chase Southerland and I am an international Accelerated VetMed Student from the USA. I would love to become your new Vice President Treasurer for the upcoming year. In 2013, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL) in my hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana. In 2017, I finished my work with equine reproductive physiology and was awarded my Master’s degree in Animal Science from Louisiana State University (LSU). While at UL, I was a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda Honors society, the Pre-Vet society, Theta Xi fraternity, and the Order of Omega Greek Honors society. In the fall of 2012, I was elected to Scholarship and Philanthropy Chairman for my Chapter of Theta Xi Fraternity to serve in Spring of 2013. As philanthropy chair, my fraternity raised over $1500 and donated almost 500 man hours for our national philanthropies; Multiple Sclerosis Society and Habitat for Humanity. At LSU I was also a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Honors society and Gamma Sigma Delta Agriculture Honor Society. In the spring of 2015, I was elected as the Recruitment chairmen of the Interfraternity Conference at the University of New Orleans. During the summer, I ran all recruitment events at each new student orientation and maintained our budget for recruitment events. From November of 2008 to January of 2016, I was employed by Chick-fil-a of Acadiana in Lafayette starting as a team member and being promoted all the way up to General Manager. As General Manager of a $1 million restaurant, I oversaw taking care of all financial transactions with our vendors, biweekly payroll, and budgeting for team member events. While attending LSU, I was employed by Bocage Animal Hospital as Kennel and Veterinary Technician. Here at the RVC, I am involved with SEVA, the Mature Student Society, BVA, SAVMA, and am an active rower in the Boat Club.
